The beef, potato, and carrot mash in that bowl was listed on the school menu as “ratatouille” in a strange katakana rendition of the word. It looks haphazardly done, but it turned out to be one of the best beef dishes I’ve ever had in a school. The bread product today was a focaccia . And, the usual fruit and flavored gelatin salad topped it off. The photo needed a flash to be taken because the teacher was doing her best to calm her class by leaving the lights off while everyone prepared. Dark, cool, and calm, right? Not exactly. But at least we ate on time!
